It was to be the most important case of Morton Farrier’s career in forensic genealogy so far. A case that had eluded him for many years finding his own father. Harley ‘Jack’ Jacklin disappeared just six days after a fatal fire at his Cape Cod home on Christmas Eve in 1976, leaving no trace behind. Now his son, Morton must travel to the East Coast of America to unravel the family’s dark secrets in order to discover what happened to him.

This is the sixth book in the Morton Farrier genealogical crime mystery series, although it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.

I've read all of the books by this author, and I must say, they keep getting better and better.
I was looking forward to spending the day reading The Missing Man as my husband had plans with his son.
Well, it snowed so much they canceled, so I just now finished.
Regardless, this is a must read. I was riveted. I I ignored the cats. I made sure my husband had his dinner, then ignored him until I finished.

The Missing Man A Morton Farrier novella The Forensic Genealogist Book 6 edition by Nathan Dylan Goodwin Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

I've read the entire series. It is interesting to read how Morton solves each mystery. The Missing Man takes place on Cape Cod where I have family history. I don't believe that I am brave enough to be a forensic genealogist, but it might be the only way to solve one of my brick walls.
I've read all the books in this series, and have waited, more or less patiently, through all of them for Morton to find his father. I'm so happy! I feel as if I know these characters. And the long awaited event "happened" right here in the US too! Couldn't have had a better ending!
Nathan Dylan Goodwin is a wonderful author. These books carry two mysterious stories, past and present, both holding interest superbly and never confusing. I am already looking forward to the next one.
I wasn't aware that this book is the last in a series, so I ended up reading this one first and will now need to backtrack. No matter, it was still an enjoyable read after I got accustomed to the British vernacular and managed to keep the constantly shifting timeline straight in my brain. My interest in genealogy was sparked by a mystery in my own family that I still haven't resolved with any satisfaction, so I found the events in this book very relatable and even picked up a few ideas for doing my own research. Overall, nicely done.
Morton and Juliette are on their honeymoon — two weeks in Boston followed by one in New York. Morton hopes that during those first two weeks he can solve the mystery of his birth father, Harley "Jack" Jacklin, who disappeared after the family home burned down at Christmas in 1976. For some reason, Jack felt responsible, according to a letter he sent to Morton's mother (that she never received). But as Morton continues his research, trying to trace Jack's parents he runs into a roadblock — no trace of them in Boston prior to their marriage, despite their claims to both have been born there. So where did they come from? And why hide their past? If Morton can find Jack, will he know the answer? Excellent story, difficult to put down.
I just finished THE MISSING MAN. I sat up past my bedtime to finish it, something I rarely do anymore! It’s the first book I’ve read by this author. It caught my eye because of the genealogy connection. I kept reading because of the story. I realized when I finished that I had gotten so caught up in the story, I felt like I was a part of it. I haven’t had that feeling in a long time. Maybe it was the subject matter. Maybe it was the story. Maybe it was the author’s telling of the story. I suspect it was a combination of the three. Needless to say, I will be reading more books by this author.
This. Is the absolute best of the 4 books. I just loved this one. As a "hobby genealogist" way below Morton's level, I am always fascinated with how Morton gets to his solutions. The mysteries are always very realistic and surprising. I can't wait for the next in the series.
I have read all of Nathan Dylan Goodwin's books in the Morton Farrier series and I was pleasantly surprised to find a new one on . Every single one of the books in this series are very, very good. This one was the best of them all because the mystery surrounding his father that has been an ongoing thread throughout the whole series has been finally solved. This book was really short I thought because I couldn't put it down and finished it in just a few hours. I thought it was a little weird and improbable at the end how it happened after all the work Morton put into finding his father but, whatever, it was a happy ending and I loved it!
