The Design of Life Discovering Signs of Intelligence in Biological Systems William A Dembski Jonathan Wells 9780980021301 Books

Intelligent design is not a contrived theory to counter evolution; it is a data borne position for the evidence. Many of the critics who try to refute the hundreds of pieces of evidence this book presents are already committed evolutionists who are not really open minded, as scientists should be. Nobody lives in the world of pure raw data, and everybody brings into the interpretation process a worldview about what they believe to be reality. To attribute the intricacies in life to chance, one must be a little more disingenuous in bridging the gap to a mindless, and purposeless world. How does one, with any consistent logic, refute "Complete adaptation packages", the problems with cooption, or the adaptability of Darwin's finches (as opposed to their evolution). Intelligent design enters the science arena on science's terms and is a completely empirical conclusion, contrary to the criticism or naturalistic, reductionistic, and atheistic scientists. Many of the points in this book are not satisfactorily countered; they may be rebutted, to be sure, but not with comprehensive logic.

The Design of Life Discovering Signs of Intelligence in Biological Systems William A Dembski Jonathan Wells 9780980021301 Books Reviews

The book is well written. The authors demonstrate a breadth of knowledge in their respective fields. Any thinking person who truly wishes to know more about how a design approach to the study of life is the superior approach must read this book. Anyone opting for the traditional evolutionary approach to study would also benefit greatly from this book in that it should open up better, alternative ways of approaching the study of life.
...there's more science in this well-documented book than there is in the usual Darwinist origin of life works that are full of speculation, handwaving and wishful thinking; oh yeah and "intelligent design" when it comes to ribosome engineering. LOL! It's no surprise then why Francis Crick felt forced to put forward directed panspermia as an explanation for life's origin. It's also obvious the 1-star reviewers haven't even read The Design of Life or there would be specifics about the book with which they disagree along with their counter arguments. I have yet to read any. Demski and Wells have picked apart current OOL research and demonstrated how woefully inadequate it is to explain the biological information and irreducible complexity found in even the simplest cell.

The Design of Life is a joy to read. The book itself is top quality and the content is well organized. The book covers a wide variety of topics such as the bacterial flagellum, gene expression, convergence, human origins, the fossil record, genetics, macro-evolution vs micro-evolution, evo-devo, etc. With regard to the flagellum / T3SS debate, the authors make a good case that the irreducibly complex flagellum was in fact the precursor to the T3SS and not the other way around as Darwinists would have us believe. After all, motility through water, which has been around since the origin of life, was needed first while the T3SS is a poison delivery system for the much-later-arriving multicellular organisms. (See also - Abby SS, Rocha EPC (2012) The Non-Flagellar Type III Secretion System Evolved from the Bacterial Flagellum and Diversified into Host-Cell Adapted Systems. PLoS Genet 8(9) e1002983. doi10.1371/journal.pgen.1002983)

Demski and Wells show the current OOL research for what it is for the most part nothing but speculation and fantasy. Everything from Oparin's Hypothesis to Miller-Urey to RNA World to self-organizing molecules is discussed.

Get this book and read it if you want to know the truth about intelligent design, why it's a scientific force to be reckoned with and why the Darwin worshippers are so hell-bent on panning a book they haven't even read. When will they learn that their transparent, unfounded and uninformed opposition to ID is only fueling the debate?
Most books on the subject of evolution and intelligent design irritate people because they dive right into philosophical constructs, religion, theology, and immeasurable metaphysical arguments. This book does NOT. It is easy to read. It defines the arguments. Defines the terms. Provides the actual data and explains it. This book had received high praise from evolutionists and creationists alike and anyone that is remotely interested should read it.

Very good quality with no markups what so ever. Bought it here because it was cheaper than through my college.
